Alana Springsteen Milwaukee Concert reviews
Fantastic show (again!)
The show had a lot of energy and Alana always makes it feel like she is singing her stuff for the first time. Alana Springsteen never disappoints, and this show was no exception. She went to the stage, picked up her guitar, and proceeded to play song requests off of people's homemade signs (she'd already done a little of this earlier in the show). The best part of the show came at the end, after the encore. The band had left the stage and Alana was just getting ready to walk off and the crowd was still going wild. She sang a couple of songs, then told the crowd that she was going to do two for the crowd, then one for herself. The show started more than an hour late, which was a little annoying, but there were a lot of people that hadn't gotten into the venue yet and the weather had forecasted high wind so they had some of the speaker apparatus lowered until they were sure the wind wasn't going to be a problem. She stayed on stage for at least another 30 minutes by herself (her fiddler did make an impromptu appearance when Alana started singing Amarillo By Morning) and IMO it was the best part of the show. No huge lights, or big sound, just a genuine lover of good music up on stage with her guitar, sharing her love with everyone in the audience. The songs she chose for herself were all covers of her favorite musicians and included Bob Seger, Randy Travis, George Strait, Billy Joel, Don McLean, & Bob Dylan, and following each song she played for herself, she'd sing another two "requests" from the audience. I'll go again but am afraid I'll be disappointed without the impromptu acoustic show we got at the end!
